About

Because the most important point of view is your own.

Ickity is a private iPhone journal for people dealing with manipulation, gaslighting and narcissistic behavior. Its Reality Check feature brings back your own past entries about a person, so you can trust your own record.

Why it exists

People who’ve been gaslit describe the same thing: the story gets retold until they aren’t sure of their own memory anymore. Ickity doesn’t tell you what to think about anyone. It keeps your own words, dated, private, and ready the moment you start doubting them.

Who built it

Ickity is built by Jelly Software, an independent software studio. It started with a simple problem: a list in a notes app buries what matters. By the time you need it, the top of the list is the small stuff, and the moments that really shook you are hard to find. Ickity keeps a timeline you can pull up in seconds.

The ideas behind Ickity also play out in short masked videos at @muckthemask, where a faceless figure plays the manipulator and the hero stays calm and keeps the line. The same ideas are written out in plain words in the Ickity Principles.

How it’s built

Jelly Software builds offline-first software: it works on your device first, syncs second, and keeps working when the network, the service or the situation doesn’t. For Ickity that means your entries are encrypted on your phone, voice notes are transcribed on the phone itself, and we never receive what you write. Read the privacy policy.

What Ickity isn’t

It isn’t therapy, a diagnosis or legal advice, and it doesn’t label anyone. It’s a journal that helps you notice patterns in behavior, in your own words.
